Frequently Asked Questions

In order to travel to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, you need an e-Visa. If you are from Country List A, you only need to apply for an e-Visa in one of the following ways:
  • Through the E-VISA portal (visit.gov.krd): You can apply for a Visit or Tourist visa and get an e-Visa within a few minutes.
  • On Arrival: You can get your e-Visa in any of the entry points of Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
If you are from the Country List B. you need to apply for e-Visa through the e-Visa portal:
  • Before applying, you need to coordinate with a guarantor from Kurdistan Region of Iraq who will support your application and apply on your behalf and receive the verification code from him/her. After that, you need to fill in the visa form through the e-Visa portal and mention the guarantor code you received. Your guarantor will receive your application, pay on your behalf, and will notify you on the result of your visa application.
The available visa types vary depending on your Passport/Travel Document country. You can see the available visas for your country using the Eligibility Checker.
All types of visa are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. This means that you can travel to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on any day within these 90 days. For example: your visa is issued on 1st March 2021 and will expire on 31st June 2021 at 11:59 PM. Therefore, you can travel to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq any time before 31st June 2021 at 11:59 PM and can stay as long as your permitted visa stay period.
All visa types have a staying period of 30 days. This means that you can stay for 30 days from the day you enter the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. For example: if your visa is issued on 1st March 2021 and will expire on 31st June 2021 at 11:59 PM, and you enter the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on 30th June 2021, therefore, you can stay in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq until 30th July 2021.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months when you apply for a visa for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Your passport must have at least one empty page to be able to enter the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
To get a visa to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, you should pay an administrative fee of 100,000 IQD to the Visa Department of the Ministry of Interior of Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The fee that you paid is application fee and is not refundable. Everyone who applies for a visa to enter the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is required to pay this fee, which covers the cost of processing the application. Since your application is processed, the application fee cannot be refunded whether the application is accepted or refused.
In order to proceed to apply for a visa to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, you must verify your email address. Therefore, in your visa application you must write an email address that you have access to.
If you are from Country List A, you will receive your e-Visa within a few minutes as your visa is generated by the system unless further manual checking is required. And, if you are from Country List B, which your country requires an e-Visa and a guarantor to sponsor your e-Visa, after your sponsor processes your visa application and pays the application fee, the visa application process will take a maximum of five working days.
